Thurlby Community Primary School

Here we are again, back in another academic year; the summer seems to have gone rather too quickly for many of us! For those of you who are new to the school, we hope your little ones (and you!) are settling in well. Just a few bits of news for you before the term really gets underway:

Tesco Bags of Help
We had some good news over the summer, The Thurlby Home & School Association (HSA) has been nominated for Tesco Bags of Help in the Bourne and Spalding stores. From now until 31st October, you can vote for us at Tesco with your little blue token and if we gain the most votes then we receive £4,000, 2nd most £2,000 and 3rd £1,000. Needless to say, we'd love the £4,000! The money received from Tesco will go towards IT equipment for the children to use within the curriculum. To vote, you will need to make a purchase within store of any value. You should receive one token per transaction and it's not necessary to purchase a carrier bag in order to receive a token. If you don't get given a token at checkout, just ask and they will give you one. Please let your family and friends know too as they can always collect tokens and then give them to you to put in the Bourne Store!

HSA Open Evening & AGM
We are holding an Home & School Association Open Evening on Wednesday 20th September at 7.30pm at Lawrance Park which, as parents and carers, you are all invited to attend. We would like to give you the opportunity to chat to us about what events you have enjoyed and what you would like to see more of over a glass of wine or two. We would also like to give you the chance to make suggestions about the ways in which the raised funds can then help the school. If you have a child in the school, you are automatically a member of the HSA. The Open Evening gives us the opportunity to say thank you to so many of you who help out in so many different ways.

Also, if you are new Reception parents, then it will give you chance to find out a bit more about what we do by talking to old hands! Our Annual General Meeting (AGM) will also take up a part of the evening and those of you who wish to become Committee members, or would just like to sign up to help, will be able to do so at this point. We have 3 Committee vacancies this year and a number of people expressed an interest in signing up towards the end of last term. If you wish to join us this year, please could you email us an expression of interest to before 20th September.

Pre-Loved Uniform
Alison Jakeman looks after our pre-loved uniform sales. Currently, she has lots of school logo items such as sweatshirts, cardigans and fleeces along with summer dresses, trousers, pinafores and PE kit in return for a donation. All proceeds go towards the school funds. If you need to contact Alison to ask her about particular uniform availability, please give her a call on 07803 002136. Many thanks for your ongoing support.
